This is the book that started it all. Aimed at beginners with some experience at strumming a few chords and plucking out a simple tune or two, Blues You Can Use will teach you the blues and the layout of the guitar in the process.
Starting at a very basic and easy level, the book takes you on a journey through major and minor blues, chord-melodies, funk style and rockin' blues. You will develop the essential blues and rock guitar styles and techniques along the way.
Each of the 21 lessons in the book contains a section on scales, a section on chords and chord progressions, and a study (lead guitar solo). Once you have completed Blues You Can Use, you will know the major and minor pentatonic and blues scales over the entire fingerboard in all keys! You will know the basic 12-bar blues progressions using 7th, 9th, 13th and minor 7th and 9th chords as well as variations on the blues progressions using chord substitutions and passing chords, etc. Finally, you will have learned 21 solos, aquiring tons of blues licks and techniques such as hammer-ons, pull-offs, string-bending and trills.
