A companion to Blues You Can Use and More Blues You Can Use, this book will give you a thorough foundation in harmony and chord theory. Blues You Can Use Guitar Chords is organized into three main sections: first comes theory and chord construction, next comes a section with literally hundreds of chord shapes, and the final section gives you exercises to help you learn how to use the many chords given in the second section.

The theory section begins with a quick and succinct unit on the fundamentals, including intervals, scale theory, basic chord construction and the basic blues chord progressions.

Having prepared you for what comes next, you then explore the ways of building major, minor, diminished and augmented triads and their inversions. You see how they are the basic building blocks of all of the rest of the chords. Then you move on to major, minor and dominant seventh chords and how and where to use them.

After that you will learn the extended chords including sixth, ninth, eleventh, thirteenth and the altered chords as well.

When you finish the theory section for each type of chord, you are then directed to the voicings section where you will be given dozens of shapes for each type. You then go to the exercises section where you can see how to use the chords and gain a working knowledge of them.

At the end of the book is an appendix which contains handy references to the various scales, chords in any key, fingerboard diagrams showing where how the chords are laid out on the neck and more.

Not interested in the theory right now? That's OK. You can skip the first section and go right to the chords themselves to find what you're looking for. Whether you are seeking rhythm chords or smaller chord fragments to insert into your lead solos, this is the book you can use.

Blues You Can Use Guitar Chords is a reference book you can use for the rest of your life, perusing back to find a new or forgotten chord voicing that will fit exactly with any tune you may be arranging. Major, minor or blues keys, rock, jazz or R&B, solo or ensemble, you'll find what you need in this book.
